THK Children Therapy Centre was established in January 2009, in response to the growing demands for centre-based assessment and intervention services to children from birth to 18 years old with developmental needs.

The THK Children Therapy Centres are located in the heart of 2 major neighbourhoods in Singapore – Queenstown and Macpherson. Each centre is equipped with a sensory-integration gym as well as therapy rooms for occupational therapy and speech language therapy.

Our therapists are dedicated and experienced in providing assessment and therapy for children with developmental issues, learning difficulties and physical disabilities from the ages of 0 to 18 years. These include children with, but not limited to:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)
  • Global Developmental Delay (GDD)
  • Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
  • Down Syndrome
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Acquired / Traumatic Brain Injuries
  • Articulation and phonological delays and disorders (Speech Sound Disorders)
  • Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)
  • Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)

  • Poor fine and gross motor skills

How can speech language therapists help my child?

A speech language therapist (SLT) works with anyone with communication and feeding difficulties.

Our SLTs are able to assess, diagnose and treat the difficulties in the following areas:

  • Language understanding and expression (e.g. following instructions, telling stories, explaining thoughts and feelings)
  • Social skills (i.e. social communication)
  • Speech production (e.g. unclear pronunciation)
  • Literacy skills (e.g. phonological skills, reading fluency, reading comprehension)
  • Voice use (e.g., hoarse voice from excessive shouting)
  • Stuttering (also known as stammering)
  • Feeding and swallowing (e.g., picky eaters, chewing delay, dysphagia)

 

How can occupational therapists help my child?

An occupational therapist (OT) works with and supports children with a range of difficulties to participate fully in school and social situations.

Our OT is qualified to assess, diagnose, and treat children with underlying motor, sensory, social, and emotional and behaviour challenges and functional difficulties in the following areas;

  • Self-help skills e.g., toileting, eating, drinking, getting dress, taking a shower, brushing his/her teeth
  • Play skills
  • Social skills
  • Writing
  • Self-regulation
  • Emotional regulation
  • Sensory system
  • Motor skills
  • Posture
