THK Pan-Disability Centre @ Eunos
The Society of Moral Charities (Visually Handicapped), SOMC (VH), is a sheltered workshop that provides persons with visual impairment a means to be gainfully employed and was started in October 2005. The Centre, now known as THK Pan-Disability Centre @ Eunos, has since moved towards pan-disability and currently has clients with multiple disabilities, such as hearing impairment, intellectual and multiple disabilities.
THK Pan-Disability Centre (PDC) @ Eunos is part of the vision where every Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in Singapore can be gainfully employed and integrated into our local workforce. We contribute to this vision by building on our clients’ strengths towards achieving degrees of independence and confidence. We offer pre-vocational training and employment placements thereby increasing their sense of self-worth and financial independence.
Currently, THK PDC @ Eunos has 3 core programme tracks, namely the Baking, Housekeeping and Administrative programmes tracks, as well as supplementary programmes and training.

Clients will first be placed under pre-vocational training to learn the basics of Baking (e.g. recipe introduction, weighing, mixing, kneading)
Thereafter, the clients can opt for Supported Employment as a Trainee Baker where they will be involved in the mass production of buns or be part of the Preparation Team where they pack and prepare ingredients to support the Bakery.
Clients who show exceptional progress as a Trainee Baker in the Supported Employment level will be given the opportunity to be hired externally by partner bakeries through our Open Employment channels.
Clients will undergo pre-vocational training to learn the basics of housekeeping (e.g. tools introduction, cleaning methods and process). They are given the opportunity to practise housekeeping (e.g. area cleaning, horizontal and vertical cleaning etc.) at the Centre under the supervision of our instructors.
Afterwhich, clients can sign up for Supported Employment under our THK umbrella as Janitors. During this transitional phase, clients get to experience what it is like to work externally while still receiving a certain level of supervision and monitoring.
Clients who pass the transitional phase would qualify a placement in Open Employment. As of current, THK PDC @ Eunos has 2 main collaborations with external employers – YWCA Hotel and Evergreen Refuse Disposal & Cleaning Services. The employing companies not only provide employment opportunities but also on-the-job training and support for PwDs.
The Administrative Track is tailored for clients who require a sheltered environment to work in as Supported/Open Employment is not a viable option due to health and social risks.
Clients are first introduced to the different administrative tasks (e.g. shredding, binding, photocopying, laminating, filing etc.) and if machines are required to complete the tasks, a step-by-step tasks breakdown will be taught.
Adhoc administrative jobs from external companies that require outsourced services will be provided in-house. Clients may also take on subcontract work such as envelope stuffing, mailing list reminders, packing of goodie bags for a reasonable fee.
Upgrading of the centre to rejuvenate and modernise our sheltered workshop into a training centre for PWDs with the addition of a full-fledged bakery in-house.
