Colours of blobs and horizontals by Ng Jayden

Jayden’s enthusiasm for artmaking can be discerned from this artwork as he invested much attention to the process with just two materials: paints and cardboards.

He chose to work with all the colours available: blue, red, yellow and started with one colour at a time during his artmaking process. The creative decision to use more reds and yellow was because Jayden found these colours to be more brilliant and eye-catching and sought to fill his canvas with these two colours first. Some blue paints were later added as Jayden grew curious about how the colours would change should he add some blue.

Cardboards of different ridges were chosen so that Jayden can experiment different ways of spreading the paint across his canvas and various marks he can create. He enjoyed creating strokes in horizontal manner the most and took time to admire his masterpiece periodically during artmaking.

This process reflects Jayden’s growing self-awareness and independence in decision making when creating artworks. The artwork also reveals how much care and attention Jayden puts into his works
