Flowy Swirls by Vinesh

In this session, the children were offered paints and cardboard pieces that had different shaped edges or ridges to create their artworks.

Vinesh used different colours and ultimately chose to use mainly red colour in his work. He spread the colours across his paper using a cardboard with flat, smooth edges layer by layer, trying to fill the paper as much as possible.

Next, Vinesh chose a cardboard piece that had comb-like ridges and made big horizontal sweeping movements to create marks on the paper. The flow of his movement when ‘scraping’ the cardboard on the paints created flowy, curved strokes which gives the artwork a sense of serenity.

The contrast between the use of a striking colour such as red and the calming strokes creates an interestingly enthralling artwork. The artwork is revealing of Vinesh’s creative and expressive side.
