Portrait by Tan Rui Ze Tristan

This artwork was made during a session wherein the children worked on a “Picasso-inspired project”. Tristan was introduced to some of Picasso’s portraits during session and he proceeds to create to his own version. He first depicts a face and body with black outlines and then colours with using oil pastels. Tristan then takes small pieces of paper and draws different facial features on each of them in detail. The ways he chooses to compose and present elements of his portrait such as facial features, the shapes of the body figure and the colours, are very creative and experimental. There is also a hint of humour in how he showcases his portrait.

Whilst initially inspired by Picasso, Tristan also adds his own flair to his portrait by exploring unconventional ways of compositing the different features of his unique portrait.
