Sea of Paints by Agnes

Intense, bold strokes are hallmarks of Agnes’ artworks. She enjoys the artmaking process wherein she is given opportunities to immerse herself in sensory and kinesthetic experiences. Agnes loves the feeling of paints on her hands, often opting to use spread paint all over her arms once she feels that her artworks are done. This session was no different as Agnes was excited to use paints when the materials were presented.

Agnes started with yellow paints first, squeezing them onto the canvas. She used cardboard to spread the paints briefly before switching to using her hands. She proceeded to repeat the process with blue and red paints. Agnes also gathered most of the red paints in the middle of her artwork and used her hands, used the cardboard pieces to mix the reds with blues. Agnes’s decision to use her hands to move the paints give the artwork a sense of movement.

The result is a fusion of effervescent colours spinning together with the motion concentrated in the centre of the artwork.
