The Rose by Wang Jialin Lucy (Eunice)

Eunice spreads tempera paints all over the paper and let it dry. After the paints on the paper have dried, she tears it into the shapes that she wants to make.

When tearing the paper painted with red, Eunice makes the shapes and sizes irregular and pastes them on another coloured paper in layers to create petals of a rose. She continues to tear the remaining paper into smaller pieces and arranged them beside the rose to represent the scattering petals of the rose. Eunice’s intention was to recreate a bright red rose in full bloom and her artwork exudes a sense of vitality and vividness.
