About Us

Since October 2019, THKMC has been operating the SG Cares Volunteer Centre at Boon Lay. The Volunteer Centre serves as a hub for volunteers and community partners to enhance collaboration for all stakeholders in the Boon Lay – Jurong West areas.

 

The regions we cover are as follows:

  • Ayer Rajah – Gek Poh Ville
  • Boon Lay
  • Nanyang
  • Pioneer

What we do:

  • Community Bonding – Achieve community bonding and a sense of belonging through volunteering
  • Meaningful Engagement through various volunteering opportunities
  • Continual Engagement by providing basic volunteer training (e.g. volunteering etiquette, dos and don’ts & etc)

Tutoring/Mentoring

There is a female student who is pursuing home-based learning and taking the national exams in 2022. She is in need of a tutor to help her with POA and Combined Humanities (Social Studies and History). The client has asked to take the O levels next year when she would be more ready. Therefore, we hope to seek assistance in providing home-based / virtual tuition this year to help her with the year-end exams.

Skills required: No Specific Skills Required
Suitable for: Open to All Min. age: 18

  • Be punctual
  • Able to converse via zoom
  • Be contactable during planned sessions
  • Flexible to changes

Child Ferrying

The volunteer will assist a young mother of two to send her 3 y/o to school at 09:30am and potentially pick him up from school at 05:30pm.

Reading Program at Gek Poh Ville CC

We’re using the program as a tool to engage the children and guide them through the fun journey of reading. Looking for passionate individuals who likes minding children and engaging them in activities.

We’re open to first timers that want to experience an activity such as this too! All are welcome.

  • Interacting with children between the age range of 4 – 12
  • Be open to adjusting with the programme
  • Passion for children

SG Cares VC@BL X BLYN – Bread Distribution 191

Volunteers will assist with distributing bread door-to-door at Block 191 Boon Lay Drive on every Tuesday and Friday.


NTUC Health – Community Analyst and Befriender

NTUC Health is looking for interested individuals to assist them in surveying and ground-sensing the community within Jurong West. This allows interaction with the community and having a better sense of what the community needs.


Tutors for Nanyang CC

SG Cares VC @ Boon Lay is seeking volunteer tutors for Primary and Secondary school students staying in Jurong West.

Subjects: P2 to S2, English, and Mathematics

Commitment: Once a week, from August to December 2022

Session: Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday

Time: 7:30pm to 9:00pm

Location: Activity Centre @ 967A Jurong West, next to Nanyang Community Club

Requirements:

Patient and able to provide encouragement to students.
