Our 14th Annual Charity Buddha was launched last Sunday! Guest of Honour, Minister of Education, Ong Ye Kung, was present to be the first one to start off the donations that will go towards helping our beneficiaries!

All proceeds raised from the Charity Buddha go towards services such as our THK Free Meal Centres as well as our THK Free Clinics. As the names suggest, these services are provided to those in need, for free!

Also in attendance were our THK Bravehearts, residents from THK Home for Disabled who dedicate their time and effort to the art of Lion Dance!

The Charity Buddha has been going on many years now but with the crowd and turn out, we were very encouraged to know that the interest in helping those in need is still going strong!

A big thank you to Sin Chew Chinese Cultural Products Supermart Pte Ltd for taking care of our Charity Buddha through rain or shine!

To friends and families affected by the multiple bombings in Sri Lanka - Our hearts go out to you.

With the recent spate of attacks - the Christ Church massacre that took place in mosques, against the followers of Islam; yesterday, the attack against Christians, on Easter Sunday. These incidents show how vulnerable we are against terror.

Just like Little Adam's Peak (A mountain range in Ella, Sri Lanka) is known for its peace and quiet, we hope that all those affected by this tragedy are able to draw strength from each other and band together, even more united.

We see a lot of parallels between our two nations as multi-cultural and multi-racial societies.

What can we do to protect ourselves and our homeland?

As Minister Shanmugam urges, we need to "consciously extend friendship and respect for each other. From the way we bring up our colleagues and neighbours. To build and preserve what holds us together as citizens, preserve the freedom to practice our different faiths, and preserve our common humanity.
Each time such attacks take place, they remind us of what we ourselves need to do in Singapore and everywhere else."
