THK Early Intervention for Children
THK Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) Centres provide early intervention for children with developmental needs below 7 years of age.
All children need guidance as they learn, grow and develop. When a child has any developmental delay, they need more support to meaningfully participate at home, in school and in their community. At THK Early Intervention for Children (EIC), we empower young children with developmental needs to reach their full potential.
Our philosophy: A child is a child first, then a child with developmental needs
Our vision: An inclusive and nurturing community that embraces different abilities, with equal opportunities and access for everyone
Our Mission: To Enable our Children, Empower their Families and Inspire our Staff & Community
We create holistic and nurturing environments with plenty of natural learning opportunities to meaningfully engage children through everyday routines and activities. It is our strong belief that when children are engaged and having fun, learning naturally takes place!
Families play a critical role in a child’s learning journey. We, therefore, consider children’s families and caregivers to be an integral part of our Early Intervention team, and work closely with them through home-based strategies, customised workshops and other support services.
Consists of:
With the children’s family as part of our trans-disciplinary Early Intervention team, we are committed to work seamlessly together to share knowledge and information, to learn & build on one another’s strengths, expertise and skills. This results in our holistic, comprehensive and integrated intervention services that meet the functional goals of each child, and support the diverse needs of their families.
We focus on functional outcomes for both our children and their families. We strive to enable our children to learn and appropriately apply behaviours, knowledge and skills that are useful in their everyday lives.
Our holistic intervention approach builds on each child’s individual developmental level. We are driven by functional Global Child Outcomes (GCOs) based on the Early Childhood Holistic Outcomes (ECHO) framework.
We are also guided by the three Family Outcomes (FOs), believing that families should be empowered by having access to desired services in their community, adequate support systems and the skills to understand and work with their child.
Children learn best when they are engaged. Our key approaches aim to engage children through their interests, and to increase opportunities for them to practice and generalise their skills by embedding learning in daily routines in their natural environment.
A child’s natural environment typically consists of their home, their preschool and their community. Our programme therefore includes neighbourhood walks and outings, field trips, home visits and school visits.
Families, being the most consistent adult figures in the children’s lives besides teachers, are empowered with home-based strategies to facilitate their child’s learning, and to meet the family’s concerns and priorities.

We provide differentiated sub-programmes to better meet the diverse learning needs of our children:
This programme focuses on empowering the caregivers of children under 24 months old. This is held at our centres with components of home-visits for 2-4 hours a week. Caregivers are enabled to through collaborative coaching to support their child’s development better.
Early Intervention Services for children between 2 to 6 years old with moderate to high needs. This is held at one of our four centres for 6 to 9 hours per week. The programme is further differentiated for the children in their different classes.
DS+ supports children who have made significant progress under EIPIC@Centre to transition to receiving support in their preschools. It adopts a collaborative partnership approach with the preschool teachers, and is held 2-4 hours per week over 3 to 6 months to ensure the children have increased participation in their preschools.
Music, art and movement foster the development of the whole child. Our team of Music Therapists, Art Therapists and Physical Education Teachers integrate music, art and movement into our centre-based programmes.
Our passionate team of Music Therapists and Art Therapists increase engagement and learning of the children through music-making and creative explorations, and also provide an added platform for emotional regulation and self-expression.
Our PE programme is collaboratively developed by our dedicated PE team and Occupational Therapists. It provides a fun platform for our children to build their muscle strength, develop their motor skills, improves brain and body coordination, participate in physical games and improve their general physical health.
