bloom ESLP

THK bloom Enabling Skills for Life Programme (ESLP), formerly known as THK Pan-Disability Centre (PDC) @ Eunos, THK Autism Centre @ Geylang Bahru and THK Day Activity Centre @ Geylang Bahru, supports adults with disabilities in improving their functional outcomes and quality of life through a person-centered and training-focused curriculum in areas such as their functional and vocational skills. Currently, we have two campuses – THK bloom ESLP @ Eunos Crescent and THK bloom ESLP @ Geylang Bahru. The teaching curriculum offered at THK bloom ESLP builds on the learning from SPED and aligns with the Enabling Skills and Competencies Framework (ESCF), allowing adults with disabilities to acquire skills systematically for independent living and employment.

The programme also seeks to prepare work-ready individuals for open employment opportunities through our Work Therapy and Work Integration Employment Model (SENSEPods and Individual Placement and Support) pathways.

Core Programmes

Functional Training Curriculum

NOURISH Curriculum – Functional Skills Training

At the heart of THK bloom ESLP lies the NOURISH Curriculum, a carefully crafted Functional Skills Training curriculum aimed at building the foundational skills necessary for greater independence and quality of life for our trainees.

This training curriculum focuses on key developmental domains such as:

  • Independent Living Skills (e.g. personal hygiene, simple meal prep, daily routines)
  • Community Living Skills (e.g. navigating public transport, using money, community safety)
  • Literacy & Communication (e.g. expressing needs, following instructions, reading signs)
  • Social & Emotional Development (e.g. managing emotions, building friendships, self-advocacy)

The areas of training will be customised according to the trainee’s Support Level tier, ensuring that learning is relevant, accessible, and builds upon their unique strengths and interests. The curriculum aligns with the Special Education (SPED) and Enabling Skills and Competency Framework.

Aside from skill acquisition, the NOURISH Curriculum also fosters self-confidence, self-direction, and adaptability. It plays an integral role in the Individualised Development Plan (IDP) that each trainee will receive, that guides the setting of goals and tracks their progress meaningfully.

By focusing on real-life, transferable skills, the Functional Skills Training component ensures that trainees are not just learning within the classroom — but are empowered to apply these skills confidently in their homes, communities, and future workplaces.

tHrIVE – Caregiver Support at THK bloom ESLP

At THK bloom ESLP, we understand that meaningful progress for persons with disabilities is most sustainable when caregivers are supported, informed, and empowered. That’s why we’ve introduced tHrIVE — our dedicated caregiver support programme designed to strengthen families and reinforce continuity of care at home.

Caregivers are often the unseen anchors — tirelessly supporting their loved ones through daily challenges, routines, and growth milestones. Through tHrIVE, we aim to honour and enhance this role by offering a suite of structured supports that include:

  • Workshops and practical training to equip caregivers with the same life skills, communication strategies, and positive behaviour support techniques used at THK bloom ESLP;
  • Emotional wellness sessions and peer support groups to provide caregivers with a safe space to share experiences, strengthen resilience, and build a sense of community;
  • Regular IDP discussions and progress reviews so caregivers are actively involved in goal setting and planning for their loved ones;
  • A platform to collaborate meaningfully with Allied Health Professionals and instructors, ensuring alignment between centre-based training and home routines.

tHrIVE reflects our belief that caregiving is not a journey to walk alone. By investing in caregivers, we build a stronger, more cohesive ecosystem around each trainee — one that supports them to flourish not just in the centre, but in life.

Vocational Training

THK bloom ESLP @ Eunos Crescent

Bakery

Knead with Love Bakery is part of THK bloom ESLP @ Eunos Crescent’s Work Therapy Model, providing vocational training in bread bun and pastry production. The bakery plays a dual role – training our trainees in real-world baking skills while also supplying fresh bread to THK Disability Homes and other partner organisations.

Beyond traditional breadmaking, our trainees are also involved in producing artisanal pastries that are available for public order. The bakery is both SFA licensed and Halal-certified, ensuring high standards of food safety and inclusivity for all consumers.

Trainees who demonstrate exceptional progress and work readiness in this program may be considered for open employment opportunities through our growing network of partnering bakeries and cafés. Throughout their journey, they are guided and supported by a dedicated team of Allied Health Professionals and Job Coaches, ensuring their skills, confidence, and independence continue to grow.

Urban Farming

Launched in September 2022, our Urban Farming Programme was developed in alignment with Singapore’s national “30 by 30” initiative, which aims to strengthen the country’s food resilience through local production. The programme focuses on indoor hydroponics, where trainees are actively involved in cultivating and harvesting microgreens, leafy vegetables such as kale and bok choy, and herbs like rosemary and mint.

Beyond just technical skills, this programme encourages environmental stewardship, food awareness, and a deeper appreciation of sustainable agriculture. The fresh produce harvested daily is made available for purchase both in-person at our campuses and online via our heartshop

Trainees who demonstrate strong interest and readiness in urban farming are given the opportunity to transition into open employment with local farms such as CitySprouts, Nutritious Farm whom we have partnered with. They are closely supported throughout this journey by our team of Allied Health Professionals and Job Coaches, ensuring a smooth and empowering move into the workforce.

Assembly Work

Our Assembly Work Programme provides trainees with meaningful opportunities to engage in a structured yet skill-building working environment. Through partnerships with esteemed organisations such as Singapore Airlines, our trainees participate in contract work that includes the assembly of luggage tags, safety cards, and other airline materials. Other valuable partnerships include iSmile Dental, POOPEE and Tranquil Funeral Services.

The programme adopts a production line approach, where each trainee is assigned a specific role within the process. This not only enhances focus and task consistency but also fosters a deep sense of teamwork and communication

If your organisation is interested in collaborating with us for assembly or contract work opportunities, we welcome you to be a part of this inclusive journey.

Craftwork Programme

Our Craftwork Programme offers trainees the opportunity to engage in meaningful, hands-on creative activities that promote both personal expression and skill development. Trainees participate in crafting wax candles, scented tablets, and our most recent additions — scented soap bars and body scrubs, in recognition of the growing self-care movement.

These activities are more than just artistic expression. Through crafting, trainees refine their fine motor skills, enhance focus and concentration, and unlock their creativity, all while building confidence in their abilities. Each handcrafted product is a reflection of their effort and individuality — allowing the community to see the talents and potential of individuals with special needs.

Whether you’re shopping for a thoughtful gift or simply treating yourself, these lovingly made products are available for purchase on our heartshop, supporting both skill development and inclusive employment pathways.

If you’re a corporate organisation looking for meaningful, socially conscious gifts for your events, we’d love to collaborate! Feel free to reach out to us to explore custom orders or bulk purchases.

THK bloom ESLP @ Geylang Bahru

Hospitality

Our Hospitality Programme equips trainees with essential housekeeping and stewarding skills, such as cleaning, refuse management, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining a neat and organized environment — all critical tasks in the hospitality industry. These foundational skills not only promote independence but also prepare trainees for real-world job settings.

Training is conducted at our centre premises, and a simulated work environment is being developed at THK bloom ESLP @ Geylang Bahru, complete with industry-standard equipment. This hands-on learning space ensures that trainees can acquire skills in a realistic and controlled setting, encouraging accurate skills transference and smooth assimilation into actual hospitality roles.

Trainees who demonstrate work readiness may be placed into open employment opportunities with our valued partners such as YWCA and ParkRoyal Hotel. Throughout this process, they will be closely supported by our team of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) and Job Coaches, ensuring they are well-prepared to adapt and thrive in the dynamic hospitality sector.

Horticulture

The Horticulture Programme introduces trainees to the calming and purposeful world of gardening and plant care. Designed to be inclusive, the programme caters to individuals across varying support needs — offering both vocational skill development and therapeutic engagement. Trainees are guided through hands-on activities such as indoor hydroponics, growing and harvesting beansprouts, and tending to a nearby community garden, where they assist in de-weeding and sweeping leaf litter. These tasks encourage responsibility, sensory awareness, and an appreciation for our natural environment.

As part of future curriculum expansion, trainees will also learn to grow and harvest edible herbs and flowers, which may be marketed on our heartshop or supplied to local cafes as part of their culinary ingredients — creating an authentic farm-to-table opportunity. In line with our values of social giving, a portion of each harvest will be set aside for donation to needy families living near our centre.

For trainees requiring higher support, the programme includes growing and caring for ornamental plant species such as philodendron and sansevieria. These plants will be potted and sold to nurseries or through our heartshop, offering trainees meaningful involvement and a sense of contribution.

Culinary

The Culinary Programme equips trainees with foundational cooking skills that serve both vocational and independent living goals. Trainees learn essential skills such as basic food preparation, hygiene practices, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment—empowering them to contribute meaningfully at home and in the workplace.

In this programme, trainees are assigned tasks based on their interests and capabilities, promoting both autonomy and teamwork. Together, they are responsible for preparing lunch daily for all trainees at the Centre—a role that instils a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.

Trainees who demonstrate vocational potential have the opportunity to progress into transitional employment through our SENSEPod initiative—canteen stalls operated by THK bloom ESLP at St. Andrew’s Mission School. There, trainees prepare and serve meals to students in a real-world setting, with on-site staff supervision to support both low- and high-support trainees. This semi-controlled environment acts as a stepping stone toward open employment, allowing trainees to adapt gradually while receiving the guidance they need.
